Kentucky Street Drainage
Joplin, MO |
Tri-State
Engineering designed a new storm sewer system to alleviate
flooding problems along Kentucky Street between 7th and 10th
Streets in Joplin, MO.
The project replaced an existing stone and concrete box drainage structure with an 8’ x 5’ pre-cast RCB. Also installed was a storm water collection system through 4 intersections with approximately 30 inlets. This new system provides relief for a 25-year storm event. |

Short Creek & Schifferdecker Avenue
Joplin, MO |
As part of the Schifferdecker Avenue widening, TSE completed
storm water improvements to the Short Creek watershed.
These improvments relieved flooding at the intersection
of Schifferdecker and Junge. Short Creek first winds
through first an industrial park, then a residential area
on the west side of Joplin, Missouri. Improvements to the
storm water system widened the Short Creek channel, added
a cell to the culvert under Schifferdecker and added drainage
structures along the entire one-mile project. Down stream
the spillway on the detention pond was repaired and the banks
were stabilized.
