Crossroads
When the Joplin Business and Industrial Development Commission (JBIDC) purchased property for a new industrial park southeast of the City of Joplin, a wave of infrastructure improvement projects began in order to service the new venture. Located east of the new Rte 71 interchange on East 32nd Street, the Crossroads Industrial Park is developing 670 acres for a manufacturing and distribution park. Complicating matters from the start was the success of the JBIDC. Three parcels had already been sold with construction under way and needs intact.
TSE was hired by Missouri Gas Energy to assist with completing right of way plans and construction plans for the 3.5-mile natural gas main extension from the new townborder station along Kodiak Road in Newton County. TSE also helped with the layout of the industrial park distribution system being completed by Gas Distribution Contractors. The rush was on, as the Great Outdoors Company was forced to use propane for their heat-treating operations until the natural gas system was on-line.

MGE provided project management, TSE provided engineering design, and GDC provided construction services to complete the project in time to meet further customer demands.
The 8" thin film steel main operates at 175 psi and the district regulator station at 32nd Street and CR 190 reduces pressure to appropriate levels for the industrial park. The new townborder station installation can provide a future demand of about one million cubic feet per hour. The project yields natural gas supply to meet the demands of the industrial park well into the future, and accommodate other development as Joplin continues to expand eastward towards the Rangeline Bypass. |
