| Geographic
Information Systems (GIS) is an emerging
technology that enables businesses and city leaders
the ability to link databases with geography. This,
in turn, yields a visual management system that you
can see in an interface similar to Google or Bing
maps, electronically. However, there is so much more
to it than meets the eye.
A
GIS lets you see, explore, and analyze data by geographic
location, which enables users the power of revealing
patterns, relationships, and trends not readily apparent
in simple spreadsheet form. Imagine being able to
draw a circle on a piece of Earth and being able to
query its contents. With just a few clicks of the
mouse, you can see all the water mains in that location,
the utility poles, crime statistics, property inventory,
landowner information, business sales with nearby
competitors and consumer expenditures in the area,
population demographics, and so much more.
Here's
a sample GIS application hosted by our vendor, ESRI,
as an example of what GIS can do: http://www.tristate-engineering.com/demographicmap.html
How
would your business operations be enhanced if you
had GIS in your workflow?

TSE
has completed GIS projects for numerous government
entities and private corporations alike with exceptional
results. Let us help you determine how GIS can improve
the accuracy and efficiency of your existing services
as we did for the following clients: |
|
City
of Diamond |
 |
The
City of Diamond hired TSE to develop a plan for water system
improvements both for the City and rural unincorporated areas.
As part of that plan GIS services included some water system
mapping as well as ensuring that deliverables for the engineering
portion of the project are GIS compatible.

| Cartographic
Services for Missouri American Water Company |
 |
Missouri
American Water Company (MAWC) selected TSE in 2004 to design
water system improvements and extensions for an EPA superfund
project to supply a clean drinking water solution to rural
homes south of the City of Joplin. A major contribution to
this project included providing cartographic services in order
to help plan and develop a water distribution system for contaminated
well sites.

Precious
Moments |
 |
TSE
has enjoyed a good relationship with Precious Moments in Carthage,
MO for a number of years. In 2002, Precious Moments hired
TSE to develop a facilities GIS. The goal of this project
was to develop a more efficient way to manage property holdings
using GIS technology.
|
| City
of Joplin |
 |
TSE
was hired by the City of Joplin for two GIS projects; updating
the parcel base map in order to allow the parcel map to
be joined to the county CAMA database and installation of
MS SQL 200 Server and ArcSDE software for improved GIS compatibility.
In addition to the parcel map updates, TSE also completed
a city zoning layer map.

Co. PWSD #1 Water Inventory |
 |
Our
most recent GIS application, led by new GIS project manager,
Jared Carey, involved raw GPS data collection by PWSD Technicians
to locate in detail the positions of service points, valves,
fire flows, tees, and other components of a since-outdated
water map. From the data collected, distance and bearings
were keyed in to closely approximate buried water mains
without having need to collect further data. This allowed
the district to better inventory and maintain their growing
network of pipe as service demand continues to flourish
in the area. A site suitability study was also tied to this
project for the proposal of a new water tower.

| Mobile
GIS |
 |
Do
you currently implement mobile GPS data collection using
ArcPad? If not, you might think about adopting it into your
workflow. Mobile GIS, when used with a Trimble data collector
and ESRI's ArcPad software, can capture and maintain city
assets, utility networks, environmental field records, and
much more... but often, Mobile GIS Users find themselves
needing something tailored to their industry.
TSE
can program and customize ArcPad to expediently and simply
assist with the collection of mobile GIS data in the field.
With fewer clicks and keystrokes, field technicians collect
data faster and make less mistakes in the process, yielding
a greater ROI for your GIS implementation. We can also import
fast, hi-resolution aerial imagery into your data collector
to “see” your location as a basemap reference.
Custom symbology, labeling, toolbar buttons, queries, and
workflows are all a part of what we offer our mobile GIS
clients.

Business
Mapping |
 |
With the power of spatial business intelligence being
harnessed from GIS technology, there comes forth a new
way to tie geography to market insights. With business
mapping, TSE can provide you with detailed reports that
illustrate market share of certain products and services
in any given demographic profile of the nation.
Not
only are these reports affordable, but they are also a
vital component of any successful business model when
it comes to site selection, marketing campaigns, competition,
serviceability, sales territories, routing and fuel efficiency,
customer prospecting, and extracting the most dollar from
any location in any given geography.

GIS Department can assist your needs!
